MME Group was recently presented with the Community Partnership Award at the annual Vadnais Heights Economic Development Business Awards. We are proud to receive this award, which is a direct result of MME’s involvement and contributions to the local community. The VHEDC is a private non-profit organization made up of investing businesses since 1984. Its mission is to enhance economic development in the City of Vadnais Heights and the surrounding areas through the attraction, retention and expansion of existing businesses and industries.
On Thursday, September 15th, 2022, MME group and other nominees attended a dinner and awards ceremony at Jimmy’s Restaurant in Vadnais Heights. We are honored that our community efforts have been noticed. Over the last two years we’ve had 14 high school students come to MME from White Bear Lake High School and neighboring high schools through their Career Pathways Program. The Career Pathway Program’s mission is to help students make informed decisions about their career choice and post-secondary plans. Students who were onsite, worked directly with our Production and Engineering teams to learn and gain hands-on manufacturing experience. After their internship, they were offered full or part time jobs depending on their schedules.
Other community involvement was coordinated by MME’s “Passion for Helping Others Committee”. They worked hard to organize volunteer events and charity raffles to raise money for good causes. Some of 2022’s efforts included adopting and cleaning up Stellmacher Park in White Bear Lake, spending a day volunteering at Second Harvest Heartland to make meals for people in need, and raising money internally via raffles and other events for charities such as American Cancer Society, The Parkinson’s Foundation and The Washburn Center for Children.
We plan to finish off 2022 with a few more events and donations! MME will be holding a candy drive for Treats for Troops, a toy and food drive for a local animal shelter, and a food drive around Christmas time for the White Bear Lake Lion’s Club. We plan to continue working with the Career Pathways Program and offering internships to students.
MME is passionate about helping our community and we are so grateful for the VHEDC Community Partnership award. A company goal of ours is to become a “Top Workplace” in Minnesota, and this award gets us one step closer. We will continue our endeavors to improve our community and work towards a brighter future together.
