Objective
The customer came to MME needing help designing and building the core of an innovative energy storage cell that reduces fuel and operating costs of ocean vessels, and is paving the way for clean energy power and storage.
Solution
MME worked in tandem with the customer’s engineers to solve multiple design and manufacturing challenges, including the re-designing of several components to lower part price, and a process for high-volume masked plating for two copper parts over-molded within the plastic frame. MME proposed utilizing electrolytic material to allow for clean welds and designed quality testing methods to ensure the uniquely-long flex circuit functions properly.
Results
After showing their reliability as a problem solver early on in the program, MME earned the trust of the customer and was asked to make crucial decisions in the engineering and manufacturing of the component.
